Affordable housing for families who must relocate to Seattle
for long-term care at Seattle Children’s Hospital
Creating Health Equity
-
Diagnosis = Relocation
Seattle Children's Hospital is a global leader in cutting edge, pediatric cancer treatments.
When a child needs to access this kind of care, they must immediately relocate within a thirty minute drive of Seattle Children’s Hospital for six months to a year. This lodging is not covered by insurance or the hospital.
Housing options are limited and very expensive. Families juggle between undesirable hotels, RV’s and over priced vacation rentals.
-
Lack of Options
Affordable resources have long waiting lists and do not accommodate siblings. This divides parents and children during the most stressful times of their lives and removes the emotional support system the family unit provides.
Many families wait in overpriced hotels while still paying for life back home, many must quit their jobs, it is a cycle which can lead to financial devastation, even houselessness, while a child fights for their life.

Home Together
Home Together, has a solution.
We work directly with the property management team at Maple Leaf Real Estate and philanthropic landlords, to create affordable, flexible-term rental properties.
We keep families together.
We even welcome grandparents and other family caregivers so they can watch over siblings while parents make their daily trips to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Health Equity
Our homes are cozy, furnished and pet-friendly. The kitchens are stocked with basics, plus fresh milk and eggs waiting in the fridge, along with some strong coffee for late night arrivals.
By creating a space of rest, hope and healing for children and families of all backgrounds, we hope to transform health outcomes for the whole family.
We know that these families have a long road ahead. Their journey is not a sprint…it’s a marathon.
We turn enduring, into endurance.
“As a 50-year old with a child receiving treatment for leukemia, homelessness isn’t an ideal situation. Because of, Home Together, (formerly Maple Leaf Foundation) , Krystin and I have an affordable place to stay for all 6-months of treatment, and we are able to have our two dogs here to support us - emotionally and mentally. We can now focus on healing.” - Ladda, AK.
“It is an absolutely indescribable feeling to be together as a family again. I honestly forgot how whole it actually feels..”
— Jaclyn, WA
“The Maple Leaf Foundation (now, Home Together) is such a blessing to our family. Our boys are our entire world. This weekend we all ate around the table together for the first time in 7 weeks. Being able to spend the night with all my babies under the same roof was the most amazing gift I could have ever asked for. I only hope that our boys will now forever know the importance of family and being together.” - Heather, Easton, WA.
Our Spaces
Homes for Healing.
Our spaces are furnished with children and healing in mind.
Through philanthropic collaborations with landlords and community partners we create private, spacious, affordable rentals that keep families together during the most emotionally and financially stressful times of their lives.
By subsidizing rent and creating flexible leases, we ease families stress and financial burden, and create a space where they can fully focus on healing.
Many of our homes are ADA compliant with multiple bedrooms so family members can have their own space while staying together.
In our first year we have launched 5 homes and housed 13 families, the majority of which are low to moderate income, coming from Alaska to Ohio.
Krystin, AK.
“Home Together, can you guys believe how far I’ve come!? It was all thanks to you all & the wonderful home…. also I’m graduating!!!”
