Spring Update:Families Helping Families!
As winter's chill slowly melts way and bursts of pink and yellow flowers announce Spring's arrival....the volunteers at Home Together have been busy bees!
I am so proud to announce that, with your help, we have recently launched the Koenig House & the McLaughlin House! Both of these special new homes are steps away from Seattle Children's Hospital and already keeping families cozy as they receive long-term treatment.
Meet the McLaughlin's!
The McLaughlin House came to us as a result of eight siblings, working together to find a way to honor and care for their childhood home. This beautiful home is a few blocks from the hospital, has five bedrooms, two bathrooms, two big entertainment rooms and a backyard just perfect for summer BBQ's and Easter morning egg hunts.
The McLaughlin siblings, (now grown with adult children of their own), approached us because they understood the importance of keeping families together, to comfort and care for each other, during the mental and physical roller-coaster of pediatric cancer treatment. Over the last few months the entire McLaughlin team pitched in to get their home ready for a Home Together family. They helped to replace old furniture, made sure there was fresh paint and clean carpets, potted daffodils and packed the kitchen with all of the essentials.
Volunteers (Thank you Whitney & Kerry Sherrill!) then worked with Home Together to assemble beds, hang art and put the final touches in place (....it was all very HGTV)!
Two weeks ago we welcomed the Tobin family from Chehalis, Washington into the McLaughlin house. A family of six with four siblings ranging from 11 to 15 years old, now have space to stay together...and have space to themselves. Please join us in sending the youngest, Tylie...#TylieTough...ALL the good wishes and strength during her treatment in Seattle this next few months!!
